Last week when my sister-in-law told me about a brownie recipe that her kids loved, even though they were filled with black beans (the brownies, not the kids) and had no flour, I was intrigued and had to try it. The recipe she sent me had been adapted from The Roasted Root’s recipe, so I used that one to make my own adjustments.
The result is much more cake than brownie so a plate and fork is a good idea when eating, but they are surprisingly delicious and there’s no black bean taste. Next time I will add some nuts and perhaps lessen the liquid a tad, so this recipe is a work in progress. But the brownies (maybe they ought be named something else) are less fattening and healthier than the brownies I usually make, so it’ll be worth the effort to improve on it. If you experiment with this yourself and create a flourless brownie that doesn’t fall apart when you pick it up, please pass it along.
So, without further ado, here’s the pdf recipe for Myochi’s Black Brownies!
Enjoy!
